Life Changing – We've Got Balance
Relocating yourself or your business to the West gives you and your family unmatchable quality of life. In the West, people live here because they genuinely want to.
The West is a great place to bring up children, there’s a low cost of living and surprisingly reasonable property prices - both for rent and to buy.
We’ve carried out detailed research and our findings are very positive. People in the East are really looking west - 36% of them would like to live in the West. These figures are even higher amongst younger people (under 35 years).
Things are changing fast here and changing for the better. Our roads and other infrastructure are improving all the time. Broadband and telecommunications are more readily available and all of this is awakening a spirit of enterprise, supported by agencies and educational establishments.
We have an ever improving standard of healthcare and parents can be sure of securing school or childcare places for children. There's plenty to do for kids as well: sports clubs, playgrounds, blue flag beaches, sailing, water sports, activity centres, cinemas and arts centres.
The dreaded commute to work is less of an issue as journeys are shorter, traffic jams are less and parking is generally not a problem. That leaves lots of free time to enjoy and the West has plenty of sports and leisure options to fill that time. An emerging artisan food network is having a wonderful impact on restaurants and dining options as well as supplying a growing number of Country and Farmers' Markets.
The Arts scene is flourishing in the West with festivals of music and song, culture, literature, visual arts, film and drama, including Galway, Boyle and Earagail Arts Festivals. The world famous Summer Schools cover everything from politics and archaeology to traditional music and painting – from McGill to Merriman to Yeats to Willie Clancy and everything in between. Music and the West are inseparable; formal and informal, song and dance, traditional and modern.
The landscape itself reads like a book, a rich tapestry of information revealing our past and traditions. Interwoven is the Irish language itself, still in daily use in Gaeltacht areas including Galway, Ireland's only bilingual city, and some of the islands. Tradition truly lives in the West, effortlessly mingling with contemporary life, a blend and a lifestyle others can only dream of.
